jamesonii from Jameson; named after William Jameson (1796-1873), physician, who made a journey to Greenland in 1818 where he collected plants. In 1820 he went to South America, where he settled himself for ever at Quita in 1826, and also made some botanical explorations. He discovered the genus which was him on the mountain Cayambe (E.N.E. of Quito, more or less on the aequator). He wrote some botanical publications. R: CGH 191(1962)109
